The Indian Head, also known as the Pratt-Bigelow coin was designed by Augustus Saint- Gaudens (and by Bela Lyon Pratt from 1907) on the order of President Theodore Roosevelt. It was in production until the late 1920’s and was stopped in 1933 when the president recalled many of the pieces in private or institutional ownership
